Springbank, founded 1828, is the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown, the once proclaimed ‘whisky capital of the world’.
Those times are long gone and currently Campbeltown is hosting only three distilleries (Springbank, Glengyle and Glen Scotia) with combined annual output less than one million liters of spirit. Springbank and Glengyle are owned by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. and produce the most handmade Scotch whisky, with 100% of the process being carried out on site. Here we have truly unique old bottling of young Springbank designated for the Japanese market. It comprises whisky distilled before 1979, the year the distillery suspended operations for almost eight years.
