After selling Cooley and Kilbeggan distilleries to Beam Suntory in 2011 for $95 million the Teelings founded Teeling Whiskey Company (an Independent Bottling Company) and started construction of Teeling Distillery in Dublin.
Moreover, they acquired Great Northern Brewery in Dundlak from Diageo and converted it into distillery. The Teelings have been also experimenting with finishing maturation in various types of wood. Here we have whiskey distilled in October 2004 at Cooley Distillery originally aged in American oak barrels and finished ex-Merlot cask no. 8828. Bottled without chill-filtration at 48.2% abv in February 2017 for the Dutch retailer Bresser & Timmer.
