Speyburn Distillery was founded in 1897 and since 1991 has been owned by Inver House Distillers, which in turn is part of the conglomerate Thai Beverages plc.
Speyburn is the largest distillery in the Inver House portfolio; after substantial expansion completed in 2015 its distilling capacity increased to 4.5 million liters of spirit per annum. Speyburn malt is a main component of Inver House blends including Catto’s, Hankey Bannister and Inver House Green Plaid. Speyburn single malt has been enjoying much greater popularity in the US than in Europe but in recent years Inver House added several new expressions to the range. Speyburn 18 years old is a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. It was released in 2018 with an outrun of 9000 bottles.
