
For every whisky collector the name Samaroli is a synonymus of the finest quality. Silvano Samaroli entered whisky business in 1968 and focused on bottling exceptional single casks of single malts.
In 2008 Samaroli left every day operations in hands of Antonio Bleve but still played an active role in the business until his death in February 2017. Macallan 1992 presented here was aged in new American oak hogshead no. 8515 for about 12 years. Bottled at 55% abv in September 2004 as part of Coilltean Selection with an outrun of 420 bottles. Macallan is currently no. 3 best selling malt (after Glenfiddich and Glenlivet) with annual sales little shy of one million cases.
Nose: sweet and spicy, vanilla, buttered croissant, pralines, cappuccino, ripe apples, peaches, hazelnuts, fresh herbs, licorice and candied ginger.
Palate: fresh herbs, licorice, salted caramel, vanilla, a drop of balsamic vinaigrette, nectarines, plums, roasted nuts and charred oak.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of fresh herbs, caramel, vanilla, roasted nuts and almonds and oak char.
