The Old Particular range was introduced in September 2013 by Fred Laing, soon after he parted ways with his brother and business partner Stewart splitting the portfolio of Douglas Laing & Co.
Old Particular is a counterpart to Old Malt Cask series, now part of Hunter Laing & Co. range, and consists of single cask expressions of single malt and single grain whiskies sourced from all over Scotland. Loch Lomond Single Grain 22 years old presented here was distilled in November 1995 and aged in refill hogshead no. DL 12799. Bottled at natural strength of 51.5% abv and without chill-filtration in September 2018 with an outrun of 315 bottles.
Nose: sweet and mildly spicy, cornflakes, vanilla, hard candy, buttered toast, butterscotch, hints of pepper and ginger and oak.
Palate: sweet, vanilla, toffee, buttered toast, maple syrup, candied fruits, cinnamon, white pepper and well-integrated oakiness.
Finish: medium long with notes of vanilla, brown sugar, baked apples, cinnamon, pepper and oak.
