The Old Particular range was introduced in September 2013 by Fred Laing, soon after he parted ways with his brother and business partner Stewart splitting the portfolio of Douglas Laing & Co.
Old Particular is a counterpart to Old Malt Cask series, now part of Hunter Laing & Co. portfolio, and consists of single cask expressions of single malt and single grain whiskies sourced from all over Scotland. Glentauchers 21 years old, released in December 2017, was distilled in December 1996 and aged in refill barrel no. DL 12199. Bottled at natural strength of 51,5% abv and without chill-filtration with an outrun of 211 bottles.
Nose: dried flower petals, vanilla, buttered toast, honey, apples, greengages, lemon peel, grapefruits, hints of lemon grass and allspice and little oak.
Palate: sweet, vanilla, honey, butterscotch, caramel, apples, pears, peaches, green tea, hay, hints of cinnamon, pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, white chocolate, summer fruit, hay, dash of cinnamon and oak.
