Frysk Hynder (Frisian Horse), the first Dutch single malt whisky was introduced in 2005.
The whisky is distilled by Aart van der Linden at Us Heit (Our Dad) distillery located in Bolsward at the site of his beer brewery. Us Heit is a very small operation with annual production of roughly 10,000 bottles. The distillery uses locally grown barley and malting is done on site. Various types of casks are used for maturation including ex-red wine, ex-sherry, ex-cognac and ex-port. Frysk Hynder presented here was distilled on October 8, 2011 and aged in ex-port cask no. 101P for almost seven years. Bottled on October 4, 2018 with an outrun of 544 bottles.
