Glenlivet Captain’s Reserve was launched in May 2018 as part of distillery core range.
The whisky is a vatting of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks finished in ex-cognac barrels for six months. Captain’s Reserve is a tribute to Captain William Smith Grant, great-grandson of George Smith, founder of The Glenlivet. The Captain not only fought in the First World War in France but also later went on to fight for The Glenlivet guiding the brand through difficult prohibition years and leading the single malt Scotch whisky revival in the UK and US. Captain’s Reserve is the first major single malt whisky finished in cognac casks included in the core rage.
