Tenuta Marcati is an Italian family-owned company, producer of fine spirits and wines.
The family owns In Mizzole, an important land property in Valpolicella with eight hectares cultivated with the traditional vines of the region. Valpolicella is a viticultural zone of the province of Verona, east of Lake Garda. The set presented here consists of three Valpolicella wines – Superiore 2016 (two bottles), Ripasso 2016 and Amarone 2015.
Tenuta Marcati Valpolicella Superiore 2016 was made with Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes. The “Superiore” destination requires that the grapes have to be harvested at a slightly higher sugar level than regular Valpolicella. The wine reveals notes of blackberries, black currants, cocoa powder and Italian herb mix. Valpolicella Superiore 2016 makes good pairing with roasted meats, game and meat pasta, goat and sheep milk cheese. Recommended serving temperature 16-18ºC.
Tenuta Marcati Valpolicella Ripasso 2016 was made with Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes and aged for a minimum of 12 months in French oak barriques. It is well-balanced wine, with notes of blackberries, black cherries, plums and black currants, light tannins and hints of dried herbs. Tenuta Marcati Valpolicella Ripasso makes good pairing with grilled steak, game, roasted veal and meat pasta. Recommended serving temperature 16-18ºC.
Tenuta Marcati Amarone della Valpolicella 2015 was made with Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes. After harvesting the grapes are kept in bunches in drying rooms where they stay up to 3 months. The wine is aged for a minimum of 24 months in French oak barriques. The 2015 Vintage is a wine of rich palate, full of wild berries, black cherries and raspberries, dash of pepper and cinnamon, hints of tobacco and oak tannins. It makes good pairing with grilled lamb, steak, venison, and blue cheese. Recommended serving temperature 20-22ºC after decanting.
