Straight from the Cask, one of our favorite series, consists of Edradour malt aged in wine barrels and bottled at cask strength.
The whiskies are presented in handsome wooden boxes and the color of the label is assigned to specific wine. Straight from the Cask is a perfect example how wine and whisky can complement each other. The Edradour presented here was distilled on September 19, 2007 and aged in ex-sherry butt no. 317 for ten years. Bottled on November 17, 2007 at 58.8% abv with an outrun of 968 bottles.
Nose: rich, Christmas cake, raisins, dried figs and apricots, roasted peanuts, toffee, caramel, hints of tobacco and leather and faintest touch of sulphur.
Palate: chocolate-coated raisins, cocoa powder, honey, roasted almonds and nuts, bitter orange marmalade, prunes and sherried oak.
Finish: fairly long and nutty, with notes of raisins, prunes, dark chocolate, maple syrup and sherried oak.
