Canadian Club is the oldest Canadian whisky brand. Introduced by Hiram Walker in 1884 as Club the whisky gained enormous popularity in private clubs across the United States and Canada.
Since 1890 the whisky has been officially labeled as Canadian Club. The brand sold tremendously well in the 1970s (over 4 million cases) today it sells about 2 million cases. Canadian Club is distilled from three different types of mash: 100% corn, distilled through a continuous still; 100% rye distilled through a continuous still and mix of rye, rye malt and barley malt distilled through both a continuous still and pot still. The whisky is blended at birth, the three types of distillate are blended together before aging. Walkerville distillery is currently owned by Pernod Ricard while the Canadian Club brand is part of Beam Suntory portfolio.
