Glenlivet 12 years old has been one of the most popular single malt expressions for years.
It was first introduced in 1933, right after Prohibition in the US ended, what makes it one of the longest produced expressions of single malt. The Glenlivet popularity has been constantly growing; it has been the best selling single malt whisky in the US forever; furthermore in 2014 the Glenlivet for the first time outsold its archrival Glenfiddich globally by 200,000 bottles. The 12 years old expression is aged in different types of wood with vast majority of ex-bourbon casks. The whisky presented here was bottled in the 1970s, very likely before the distillery was acquired by Seagram (1978).
