On January 25, 2009 the Scots celebrated 250th Anniversary of Robert Burns’ birthday.
Burns was a Scottish poet and lyricist, widely regarded as national poet of Scotland and celebrated worldwide. To commemorate the occasion Arran Distillery released a limited edition of single malt whisky. The whisky comes from 15 ex-sherry hogsheads filled in 1998 and personally selected by the distillery manager James MacTaggart. The anniversary bottling had outrun of only 6000 bottles and was officially endorsed by the World Burns Federation. Isle of Arran Distillers remains one of the very few privately owned Scottish distilleries and is a patron of the Robert Burns World Federation.
