After acquiring Jim Beam Global in 2014 Suntory became the third largest producer of distilled spirits behind Diageo and Pernod Ricard.
Suntory has been dominating the Japanese whisky market with almost 70% of market share. Their portfolio includes malt, grain and several blended whiskies ranging from inexpensive super market brands to super premium. Suntory Crest is definitely a premium expression, it was launched in 1989 (together with Hibiki 17 years old) to mark the company’s 90th Anniversary. It is a blend of Yamazaki and Hakushu malts and grain whisky from Chita Distillery with each component aged for a minimum of 12 years.
