Bumbu is a brand of rum manufactured in Barbados. The local Bumbu Rum Company produces a rum in a traditional distillery that was founded back in 1893.
It uses a perfect-quality local water and sugar cane grown all over the Caribbean, not limiting its place of origin only to Barbados. Distillation takes place in column stills.
Bumbu The Original is a rum manufactured according to a recipe commonly used in the area in the 16th and 17th centuries, when sailors would bring in best raw materials for the manufacture of rum from all over the Caribbean. The rum was called “Bumbu” back then. The present incarnation of the original Bumbu is manufactured in small batches, which are then vatted together. Its bouquet offers notes of fruits, mainly bananas, vanilla, caramel, spices, nuts and cinnamon.
