In April 2013 Aceo Ltd, a cask whisky broker, acquired Murray McDavid brand. The company did not release any new bottlings for over a year but finally returned with quite impressive family of whiskies, which included six ranges: Mission Gold, Benchmark, Mystery Malt, Selected Grain, The Vatting and Crafted Blend. Glenburgie 21 years old presented here was distilled in 1995, aged in ex-bourbon hogshead then transferred into fresh hogshead no. 6333. Bottled at 46% abv and without chill-filtration in the summer of 2017 as part of Benchmark range with an outrun of 301 bottles.
Nose: sweet and fruity, oranges, bananas, strawberries, coconut shavings, buttered toast, vanilla, milk chocolate, hints of cloves and oak.
Palate: malty and fruity, breakfast cereals, apples, pears, oranges, milk chocolate, vanilla, sugared almonds and nicely integrated oakiness.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, honey, baked apples, pepper, cinnamon and oak.
