Writer’s Tears is a unique brand of Irish whiskey created by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh in 2009. The cask strength expression followed in 2011 and has been released in limited quantities on annual basis.
In 2017 the company revamped the label, the new design links the artistic essence of the brand to the creativity of whiskey distilling through a chalkboard illustration by the Irish illustrator Linda Byrne. It depicts the field-to-bottle creation of whiskey and the rural influence on whiskey traditions. Writer’s Tears Cask Strength 2017 bottling is a vatting of triple distilled single malt and single pot still whiskeys aged in white American oak barrels. Only 5280 bottles were produced. It was awarded a gold medal in the Irish Whiskey Awards in Cask Irish Strength Whiskey category.
