The history of Ormarine Cellar starts in 1922, when 53 winegrowers associated with five cooperatives came together and formed the Association of White Wine Producers of Pinet in order to enhance the white wine produced on the terroir of Pinet. The turning point in the history of the cellar came in 1985, when after years of investment and improving quality Picpoul de Pinet received AOC classification (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée de Pinet) and consequently joined the large family of AOC Côteaux de Languedoc. One of the main varieties grown in the region is Piquepoul, an ancient grape quoted by the famous botanist J.B. Magnol in his book “Sylve Plantarium” as early as 1618 as one of the six best-known grape varieties in Languedoc.
Ormarine Picpoul de Pinet Les Pins de Camille 2017 is made with Piquepoul Blanc with a little addition of Folle Blanche. It is very fresh and crispy wine, with flavors of grapefruits, pears, quince jelly, candied ginger and delicate mineral note. Makes great pairing with grilled fish and chicken as well as with vegetarian dishes. Serve chilled to 8ºC.
