Glen Garioch (est. 1797) is a small distillery owned by Morrison Bowmore Ltd, which since 1994 has been wholly owned by the Japanese conglomerate Suntory.
Until 1994 the distillery operated own maltings and produced malt with concentration of phenols of 10 ppm. The 12 years old expression presented here was bottled in 2003 and comprises whisky aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. A portion of sales of this bottling went towards The National Trust of Scotland (The National Trust for Scotland for Places of Historic Interest of Natural Beauty), a Scottish conservation organization founded 1931 to protect and promote Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage.
