Aberfeldy distillery was founded by John and Thomas Dewar with a single objective – to produce single malt whisky for their signature blend, Dewar’s White Label.
John and Tom took over the family business in 1880 upon death of their father John Sr., the founder of John Dewar & Sons. Since 1998 the distillery, along with the Dewar’s brand has been part of Bacardi’s portfolio. Aberfeldy 12 years old was launched the same year; in 2005 Bacardi released so called ‘Dewar’s Edition’ to commemorate 200th Birthday of the founder of John Dewar & Sons (his picture adorns the label).
