Yushan is a blended malt whisky named after the island of Taiwan highest mountain Yu Shan (Jade Mountain). It is produced by Nantou Distillery owned by TTL Group (Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation).
Nantou was founded in 1978 but started producing malt whisky in 2008. Their Omar Single Malt Sherry Type launched in 2015 scored silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition the following year. Not too much is known about Yushan’s formula, the only certain thing is that its main ingredient comes from Nantou Distillery. The whisky was aged primarily in ex-bourbon barrels with a little addition of ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
