Laphroaig has been the most popular Islay whisky since 2001. In 2016 the brand sold 3.7 million bottles, almost as much as Lagavulin (No. 2) and Bowmore (No. 3) combined.
In 2015 the distillery celebrated its 200th Anniversary with the edition of 32 years old; the following year brought Laphroaig 30 years old and in 2017 we could enjoy the 27 years old expression. The whisky distilled between October 1988 and November 1989 was originally aged in refill hogsheads then transferred into first fill bourbon barrels and refill quarter casks and laid in Laphroaig’s famous Warehouse No. 1. Bottled at natural strength of 41.7% abv and presented in white wooden box with hand carved images of the distillery inside.
