Wm Cadenhead & Co. is the oldest Scottish Independent Whisky Bottler. The company was founded in Aberdeen by George Duncan in 1842.
His brother-in-law, William Cadenhead, a noted poet, joined business in 1858 and after Duncan’s death changed the company name to his own. In 1972 the company was acquired by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. the owner of Springbank and moved to Campbeltown. Wm Cadenhead also releases small batches of blended whisky. Here we have 12 years old blend made of 65% malt and 35% grain. The whisky is matured in a sherry solera system; only half of the vatting goes for bottling, then the cask is topped up.
