Soon after launch of Great King Street Artist’s Blend in 2011 Compass Box’ John Glaser ran number of experimental batches to expand the range. Two new blends were later released with the idea of letting the customers decide which one would make as permanent addition to the range. The winner was Batch No. TR-06 (nicknamed Blue Batch), a blend of 1/3 of Lowland grain whisky and 2/3 of malt from Speyside, Highlands (with big proportion of Clynelish) and Islay, all aged predominantly in first fill ex-bourbon barrels and some being finished in French oak casks. Released in September 2013 with an outrun of 3805 bottles. Batch No. TR-06 was a base for Great King Street Glasgow Blend.
