One for the Road is all about Willie Cochrane, who was running the show at Jura Distillery for the last 11 years. Willie arrived on Jura in 1977 planning to stay for a year yet his plan didn’t work out and one year stretched to 39 years. He started working as mashman, soon became a stillman and finally was promoted to the distillery manager post. During his tenure as a distillery manager the annual sales of Jura malt raised from 300 000 bottles to almost 2 million and the brand became the third most sold single malt in the UK after Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie. Willie Cochrane retired in September 2016 and to celebrate the occasion the company released ‘One for the Road’, a 22 years old whisky aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished in ex-Pinot Noir casks. Only 5000 bottles were filled.
