Signatory Vintage founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington is one of the leading independent whisky bottling companies.
On every cask strength bottling the Symingtons always include much appreciated information – the cask number, date of distillation and bottling and number of bottles filled. Bruichladdich 26 years old presented here comprises whisky distilled on September 26, 1990 and aged in refill sherry butt no. 161. Bottled on October 19, 2016 at natural strength of 53.4% abv with an outrun of 438 bottles.
Nose: distinctive sherry notes, candied orange peel, raisins, Christmas cake, honey, vanilla, salted almonds, touch of leather and delicate oaky and herbal notes.
Palate: quite complex, roasted almonds and nuts, prunes, raisins, vanilla, dark chocolate, bitter orange marmalade, dash of pepper, hints of hay and oak.
Finish: fairly long, nutty and pretty spicy, with notes of dark chocolate, pepper, nutmeg, dried fruit and oak.
