Kilchoman Distillery started producing whisky in June 2005 and the brand was launched in September 2009.
The initial reviews were excellent and in 2015 the brand global sales for the first time ever reached 200 000 bottles and so far supply cannot meet the growing demand. In recent years Kilchoman has been experimenting with various types of wood for full and finishing maturation. Here we have a very interesting expression bottled exclusively for the Polish importer of the brand, M&P Company. The whisky distilled on November 11, 2011 was finished in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry cask no. 694 and bottled at natural strength of 56,9% abv on February 2, 2017.
Nose: smoky and sweet, slightly grassy, hay barn, rosehip marmalade, cherries, cranberry relish, milk chocolate, white pepper and touch of sulphur.
Palate: nice interaction between sherry and peat smoke, blackberries, prunes, chocolate-coated cherries and delicate peppery notes.
Finish: fairly long, peat smoke, mixed berries, dashes of pepper and cocoa.
