Knockando Distillery was built in 1898 by John Thompson and is currently owned by Diageo.
In its early years the distillery worked only in winters using barley sown in the spring and subsequent owners referred to each year of production as “a season”. The official bottlings have been offering an age statement as well as vintage. Knockando has been closely associated with J&B blend since the brand’s launch in the 1930s and today remains one of its main components. The 12 years old expression was introduced in 1978 and remains part of the distillery core range. Knockando 2000 Season was aged exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels.
