Jim Beam is by far the best selling bourbon brand with more than 7 million cases sold annually.
The company, currently owned by Beam Suntory, third producer of alcoholic beverages in the world, operates two distilleries in Clermont and Boston, Kentucky and holds more than a million barrels in their inventory. Jim Beam bourbon is distilled from mash of 75% corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley. While the standard expression, White Label, is a 4 years old bourbon the original Black Label was aged for 8 years. Recently it was replaced with Black Label Extra-Aged expression bottled without age statement.
Nose: nicely balanced, honey, vanilla, caramel, orange peel, cinnamon, allspice, hints of cedar and charred oak.
Palate: smooth, caramel, vanilla, toffee, plums, raisins, apples, touch of honeydew melon, allspice, dash of pepper and oak.
Finish: pretty long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, honey, orange peel and oak.
