The MacPhail’s Collection is a small and exclusive range of fine single malt whiskies from distilleries throughout Scotland.
It contains mainly young whiskies, usually bottled after 8 years of aging either with the age or vintage statement, and offered at pretty competitive price. Bunnahabhain 2006 comprises whiskies aged in first fill and refill sherry hogsheads and bottled at very approachable 43% abv in 2015. The distillery is located on north-eastern shore of the Island of Islay and equipped with two pairs of stills can produce 2.7 million liters of spirit per annum. Bunnahabhain Distillery is owned by Burn Stewart, subsidiary of the Distell Group Ltd since 2013.
Nose: fruity and malty with subtle mineral notes, oranges, peaches, mango, dried rose petals, jasmine tea, hints of leather and coffee beans.
Palate: nutty and fruity, bananas, oranges, kiwi, breakfast cereals, toasted bread, chocolate coated hazelnuts and touch of cigar ash.
Finish: medium long, with notes of pepper, leather and bitter oranges.
