Glenrothes Distillery has been producing whisky since 1879. It is a big and efficient distillery equipped with five pairs of stills, with annual output of 5.6 million liters of spirit. Glenrothes malt has some followers; it is highly regarded by blenders who rank it among top six single malt whiskies. Berry Bros. & Rudd, the brand owners who made their name in wine trade, decided to market Glenrothes whisky by vintage rather than age. It looks like in 1987 the distillery was running at full steam, between 1999 and 2005 that Vintage had six official releases. Here we got the oldest one so far, whisky distilled on July 6, 1987 and bottled in 2005.
