The latest edition of Bruichladdich’s Uber Provenance Islay Barley series comprises whisky distilled from a mixture of Publican and Oxbridge barley varieties grown on four small Islay farms: Claggan, Cruach, Island and Mulindry and harvested in 2008. These farms are centrally located on the island, providing a very different terroir to the wild maritime location of 2007 release from Rockside The whisky was bottled in 2015 after six years of aging in white American oak barrels.
Nose: soft, gooseberries, pineapples, grapes, vanilla, sweet cereals with honey, candle wax, fresh linen sheets and touch of toasted oak.
Palate: malty and citrusy, oranges, pineapples, bananas, almonds, nougat, butterscotch, vanilla and subtle spicy notes in the background.
Finish: medium long, malty and nutty with delicate oaky and fruity notes.
