West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 in Union Hall, south-western part of Cork County. Their first whiskey, Kennedy’s Irish Whiskey, was launched as early as 2004. The distillery moved its headquarters to the nearby town of Skibereen in 2013, looking for a greater expansion possibilities. At present, their whiskey, vodka, gin and traditional Irish poitín are available in 35 countries across the globe.
West Cork Black Cask is a blended whiskey which spent three years in oak casks. After that period, the grain and malt whiskies were married together and left for another half a year in heavily charred American bourbon oak casks.
Nose: Malty notes intertwined with nuts and vanilla.
Palate: Dominated by vanilla and oakiness, with hints of citrus fruit, spices and subtle smoke.
Finish: Long, malty, with notes of oak and vanilla sweetness.
