Wemyss is the Lowland family directly descended from the Celtic nobility through the Macduff Earls of Fife. However not directly involved in the whiskey trade until the 21st Century the family can claim their place in whisky history – in 1824 John Haig built Cameron Bridge Distillery on the Wemyss’ land. Wemyss Malts was founded in 2005. The company uses the aromas and tastes of the individual whiskies to identify each expression. The Hive is a blend of 16 single malts sourced mainly from Speyside and Highlands with emphasis on honey, toffee and cinnamon. The formula of The Hive remains the secret of its creator, unofficially we were told that its main component is Glen Ord. The Hive 12 years old scored silver medal at the 2012 International Spirit Challenge.
