When the Reid family established Springbank Distillery in 1828, neighboring Longrow celebrated its 4th Anniversary. While the latter never made it into 20th Century, Springbank remains the brightest spot of the Campbeltown region. The only remnant of Longrow Distillery is one bonded warehouse converted to bottling plan by Springbank. The brand is alive however, resurrected by Springbank in 1973, a smoky whisky, distilled from barley dried with peat for over 48 hours. Longrow 10 years old 100 Proof was introduced in 2006 and remained part of the core range for five years. The whisky was aged exclusively in ex-bourbon casks.
