Deanston, founded 1966, is fairly new distillery located in Southern Highlands.
The buildings, which originally hosted a cotton mill go back to 1785. Since 1990 the distillery has been part of Burn Stewart Distillers, a company acquired by South African Distell Group in 2013. Deanston may not be the most recognizable single malt but it is a major component of Scottish Leader, a blend with annual sales north of 6 million bottles. Deanston Organic launched in March 2016 is the latest addition to the company portfolio. The whisky spent 15 years in oak and is bottled un-chillfiltered at 46.3% abv. It has been certified by Organic Food Federation.
