Douglas Laing & Co. introduced Double Barrel Blended Malt range in 2009 with the release of single casks of Macallan and Laphroaig married together and bottled at 46% abv as 10 years old. The idea behind the project was to prove that marriage of two opposite malt whiskies can create a perfectly balanced dram and the one presented here is no exception. The marriage of earthy, smoky and robust Ardbeg and salty and slightly floral Inchgower created harmonious union, friendly to any palate.
Nose: smoky and coastal, peat smoke, seaweed, lemon grass, vanilla, caramel, apples and touch of charred oak.
Palate: smoky and spicy, sea breeze, seaweed salad, pepper, ginger, vanilla, hints of hay and charred oak.
Finish: pretty long, smoky with delicate briny and spicy notes.
