West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 in Union Hall, south-western part of Cork County. Their first whiskey, Kennedy’s Irish Whiskey, was launched as early as 2004. The distillery moved its headquarters to the nearby town of Skibereen in 2013, looking for a greater expansion possibilities. At present, their whiskey, vodka, gin and traditional Irish poitín are available in 35 countries across the globe.
West Cork Irish Single Malt 12yo Sherry Cask is a triple distilled Irish malt whiskey – produced exclusively with malted barley – matured in ex-bourbon casks and additionally matured (wood finish) in ex-sherry casks.
Nose: Fresh, fruity, with hints of pineapple and citrus. Vanilla and toffee, followed by other fruits – plums, raisins, forest fruits. Some ginger and oak.
Palate: Sweet and creamy, with notes of vanilla, plums, dried fruits, candied orange rind and dark chocolate. Some cinnamon and oak.
Finish: Medium length, with fading vanilla and dried fruits, ending with some bitter chocolate.
