West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 in Union Hall, south-western part of Cork County. Their first whiskey, Kennedy’s Irish Whiskey, was launched as early as 2004. The distillery moved its headquarters to the nearby town of Skibereen in 2013, looking for a greater expansion possibilities. At present, their whiskey, vodka, gin and traditional Irish poitín are available in 35 countries across the globe.
West Cork Irish Single Malt 12yo Port Cask is a triple distilled Irish malt whiskey – produced exclusively with malted barley – matured in ex-bourbon casks, additionally matured (wood finish) in ex-port pipes.
Nose: Distinctly fruity with some wine overtones. A mixture of vanilla, red apples, forest fruits and some flower notes. With time, slight honey and spice appear.
Palate: Creamy, cmooth, fruity. Disticnt spice. Raspberries and apples are complemented by spice and pepper. Vanilla and malt.
Finish: Medium length, with notes of pepper and dark chocolate.
