John Distilleries Ltd. is one of the major producers of alcoholic beverages in India.

The company was founded in 1992 by Paul P. John, the son of a plantation and liquor baron in Karnataka. Currently John Distilleries owns three distilleries and produces its brands in 18 locations in India. Their best selling whisky is Original Choice (over 10 million cases) made from sugar molasses. In 2008 the company started producing malt whisky in a single pair of stills, an additional set of stills is going to be installed in the spring of 2017. Edited is a lightly peated expression distilled using 80% unpeated malt and about 20% peated. It is produced in the company distillery in Goa.

Nose: grassy and spicy, very subtle smoky notes, forest floor, hay, quince jelly, coriander, allspice, licorice, coffee beans, roasted nuts and charred oak.

Palate: nicely balanced, sweet, spicy and smoky, caramel, toffee, ginger, nutmeg, fennel, touch of licorice and smoke lingering in the background.

Finish: medium long, vanilla, caramel, licorice, aniseed and gentle smokiness.
