Glen Grant, founded 1840, was the first of five distilleries to be built in the town of Rothes. The founders were the Grant brothers, John and James, who had previously been involved in illicit distilling. Since 2006 the distillery has been part of Gruppo Campari and equipped with four pairs of stills can produce over 6 million liters of spirit per annum. Gordon & MacPhail has been bottling Glen Grant on regular basis as part of Distillery Labels range. The 40 years old expression contains whisky distilled in the mid 1970s or earlier, when the distillery operated as part of The Glenlivet Distillers, and aged in refill white American oak hogsheads.
