Duke was a nickname of John Wayne, legendary actor, fisherman, hunter and adventurer. Apparently Duke was also a very hospitable person, very passionate to share a drink with his friends. John’s son, Ethan Wayne, remembers his father’s dream to create his own whiskey and decided to fulfill the mission. After studying his dad's writings and scripts and going through his spirits library dating back to 1963 Ethan was able to recreate profile of father’s favorite whiskey. Duke is a small batch bourbon sourced from undisclosed Kentucky distillery (some say Wild Turkey) and bottled in small batches by Monument Valley Distillers of California. No mashbill details have been revealed, the company claims that each batch comprises whiskeys aged from 5 to 10 years.
