Glendullan, founded 1897, is the last of the original seven distilleries to be built in Dufftown. In 1972 brand new distillery was constructed right next to the old one and they run parallel until 1985. Currently the distillery is owned by Diageo and equipped with three pairs of stills produces roughly 5 million liters of spirit per annum. Majority of the output goes into Diageo blends, Glendullan is a backbone of Old Parr brand and contributes to Johnnie Walker and Buchanan’s as well. The 2001 Vintage, released in 2014 as part of Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice range comprises whisky aged exclusively in first fill bourbon barrels.
Nose: lots of vanilla, notes of green apples, kiwi and lime, coconut flakes, white chocolate, freshly mowed grass, cucumbers, dried flower petals and hints of cedar wood.
Palate: malty and fruity, sweet cereals, banana bread, milk chocolate, sweetened lime juice, vanilla custard, peaches, melon, hints of pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long and sweet, vanilla, ripe orchard fruits and just a hint of oak.
