Braeval, founded in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet, is one of four distilleries situated in the Livet valley (the others are The Glenlivet, Tamnavulin and Tomintoul). The distillery produces close to 4 million liters of sprit annually but almost entire output goes into Chivas blends. The official bottling of Braeval was never released and Independent Bottlers seldom offer it. The 1995 Vintage expression, part of popular Connoisseurs Choice range, comprises whisky aged in refill sherry hogsheads and bottled at 46% abv in 2013.
