Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1826 and is currently owned by Pernod Ricard. It is equipped with two pairs of stills capable of distilling 3.8 million liters of spirit per annum. While almost every standard Aberlour bottling is a marriage of whiskies aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, the White Oak expression is matured solely in white American oak. The original release from 2012 earned pretty good reviews and the following year the company included it into core range. The 2014 release contains whisky distilled in 2004 and bottled at 40% abv.
Nose: sweet and fruity, slightly floral, vanilla, caramel, honey, butterscotch, oranges, coconut flakes, hints of fennel and oak.
Palate: smooth, sweet and creamy, pears, apples, coconut, butterscotch, vanilla and delicate oaky notes.
Finish: medium long, vanilla, caramel and hints of licorice.
