Dallas Dhu was another victim of the industry downturn from the early 1980s. The distillery was erected in 1898-1899 and remained in operation until March 1983. Small distilling capacity of 750 000 liters of spirit per annum and limited water supply made it a perfect candidate for closure in time of crisis. Gordon & MacPhail bottled Dallas Dhu on regular basis until the early 21st Century; the only official bottlings were released in Rare Malts series in 1995 and 1997. The 1980 Vintage expression was part of Gordon & MacPhail Distillery Labels range in 2014. It contains whisky aged in refill sherry puncheons.

Palate: soft and fruity, oranges, bananas, baked apples, milk chocolate, sweet pastries, touch of marzipan, aniseed and subtle oakiness.
Finish: fairly long, vanilla and fruity sweetness, balanced with delicate oaky bitterness.
