Glenfiddich Small Batch Reserve introduced in 2008 as a replacement of the Ancient Reserve expression has been part of the distillery core range ever since (since 2014 it has been marketed as Married in Small Batches). The whisky was aged in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks for at least 18 years. These casks were then married for three months in small batches in big wooden tunes. Each batch is a vatting of no more than 150 casks carefully selected by the company Malt Master. In 2015 Glenfiddich Married in Small Batches scored Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Nose: deep and complex, slightly floral, honey, heather, baked apples, orange zest, cinnamon and distinctive sherry notes.
Palate: rich and smooth, toffee, brown sugar, raisins, dried dates, mango and banana and notes of cinnamon and oak in the background.
Finish: long and fruity with delicate nuttiness and oaky dryness.
