A malt whisky produced at Yamazaki distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. The plant is located amongst most exceptional scenery in Shimamoto, not far from Kyoto. Yamazaki is a pioneer of Japanese malt whisky. When creating his whisky, Torii was inspired by the traditional Scottish art of distillation. An annual limited expression of Yamazaki single malt whisky whose components matured entirely in ex-sherry casks. In 2013 there were 18000 bottles.
Nose: Rich and complex, with oak, vanilla, dried fruits, raisins, dark chocolate, citrus fruits, red grapes, ripe bananas and leather.
Palate: Full and fruity, with oak, liquorice, marzipan, figs, subtle sweetness, citrus fruits, cloves, allspice and cinnamon.
Finish: Long and spicy, with figs, raisins and oak.
