A malt whisky distilled at Yamazaki distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. The plant is located amongst most exceptional scenery in Shimamoto, not far from Kyoto. Yamazaki is a pioneer of Japanese malt whisky. When creating his whisky, Torii was inspired by the traditional Scottish art of distillation.
Similar to the 2014 edition, the 2015 limited edition of Yamazaki single malt whisky is a marriage of 20-year-old whiskies matured in ex-sherry casks, 20-year-old whisky matured in port pipes, and slightly younger whisky from American oak casks.
Nose: Full and complex, with fruits, strawberries, caramel sauce, cocoa, black tea, oak, leather and rosehip.
Palate: Sweet and well-balanced, with fruits, caramel, oak, chocolate, vanilla and spice.
Finish: Medium length, with oak, brown sugar and spice.
