An exceptional expression of blended malt whisky produced by Nikka. Named after the founder of the brand and Yoichi distillery, Masataka Taketsuru. It is a composition of malt spirits from Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido, and Miyagikyo distillery on the island of Honshu. The whisky matured for 17 years in ex-sherry casks and those made from Japanese oak. Offers flavours of dried fruits, leather and tobacco.
A relatively rare expression from 2010, launched for the Japanese market.
Nose: Very fruity, with blackberries, raisins, vanilla, oak, honey, dried fruits, tobacco and leather.
Palate: Well-balanced and full, with vanilla, blood orange, chocolate, cinnamon, spices, sherry and oak.
Finish: Medium length, with oak, fruits and cacao.
